Experience
I double-majored in Public Health and Biology at Brown University, receiving honors in Biology. I'm currently working as a clinical research assistant, with an ultimate goal of attending medical school and becoming a pediatrician. My own teachers have helped and encouraged me toward that goal, and tutoring offers me the chance to provide that same type of support and inspiration to my students. I have worked with students of all ages in a variety of subject areas. I particularly like teaching Writing and Biology, as well as assisting students with standardized test preparation. I strive to integrate education with inspiration. Effective tutoring is about more than teaching the material; the best tutor will also make students more effective learners, helping them to develop insights and processes that will serve them in the present context and beyond. I use real-world applications to help my students engage with the concepts, and practice sets to allow them to measure their progress and build confidence in their abilities. My goal, in short, is to enable students to be better long term learners, rather than simply succeed in a particular course or excel on a single test. When I'm not teaching or tutoring, I enjoy working out, playing guitar, reading, and hanging out with my three dogs.
